December, 2008

Our year ended with several network live shots from our studio for Bloomberg, FOX and CNN. 2008 saw a large increase in the number of clients using our studio for their live shots from Atlanta. We're happy to have so many great clients finding our facility the perfect for their uplink needs.

In addition to live TV, our studio was booked with our most frequent work - green screen. We've become the 'go-to place' in Atlanta, or so it seems. Our 20x20 foot green screen seems to work perfectly for companies needing one or two people to appear on camera full-frame. While most of the green screen work ends up on web sites, there are quite a few days booked for television ads and corporate productions.

We also managed to get in a few days of location shooting in December, despite being closed for much of the latter portion of the month due to the holiday schedule.

As we close 2008, we're looking forward to 2009 as a new opportunity to bring several innovations to our clients. First, we are working on our new web site, which will be revealed in March, 2009. We are also increasing our focus on web-based video and will have some exciting announcements with the launch of our new site.

Looking back, it's been a very fast two years that we've had our studio space. Our single biggest problem is the realization we could use more room! It's a nice problem to have, especially these days, and without both our new and very loyal client base, we couldn't reach the goals we set each year.

Thank you for your continued support!

November, 2008

After two years, the 2008 Presidential Election came to a close on November 4 and I’m happy to say everyone here participated in the process. Over the course of the last two years, we met nearly every candidate running for President, including the final two contenders. We did this during the course of covering assignments from the networks, and enjoyed meeting them all.

Our studio green screen saw a number of clients in November with a definite increase in the percentage of videos intended for web use from a number of new clients, along with our regular customers who come in on an on-going basis for their productions.

Asylum Entertainment had us travel to South Georgia to interview a powerboat racer that wrecked his boat at 138 mph…and fortunately lived to tell the story. We posted a clip of the wreck and a bit about the shoot, which will air on TruTV on our blog at www.forrestermediablog.com.

We worked with Paul Fagan Productions on a shoot at CNN that included interviews with the CEO of Turner in the former office of Ted Turner. We also, by complete luck, happened to run into Ted Turner himself while preparing for the shoot.

We completed several corporate projects including a promotional video for a company that sells construction cranes and a continuing medical education video with a renowned physician that lives in the Atlanta area.

October, 2008 News

Fall came knocking on our door in the form of editing…lots of editing. We burned the midnight oil for several candidates seeking election or re-election producing a dozen political commercials in October.

Our green screen studio continued to see bookings from our regular clients, plus some new ones. We’ve even worked out special, reduced rates for our frequent ‘green screeners’ which allows them to come in for shoots lasting just 30 minutes. We also had another medical video shot using our in-house set pieces, which was posted on our Final Cut Pro HD suite.

Location work was also on the schedule with travels around the Southeast for HDNet and Bloomberg Financial News. Our work for Bloomberg included a live remote broadcast from the Charlesto n, SC area.

Closer to home, we covered a designer’s fashion show at the Atlanta Apparel Mart for two days. We shot new video for a repeat client; Cellfire about their convenient cell phone based coupon service and then edited the footage into a Video News Release for distribution.

We shot video of downtown Atlanta for a new video about the city that will be shown during Delta Airline flights.

Lastly, we worked for ZDF (German TV) taping an interview with 1964 Olympic Gold Medal winner Tommie Smith about he and John Carlos raising their black-gloved fists as a symbol of Black Power, which resulted in them being banned from the Games.

September, 2008 News

Hurricane coverage for The Weather Channel continued into September with Keith Krystofiak working with Jim Cantore on both Hurricane Gustav in Louisiana and Hurricane Hanna in North Carolina.

Closer to home, we worked with E! Entertainment Television. News Correspondent Ryan Seacrest taped his stand-ups at Centennial Olympic Park while in Atlanta . The tapes were then brought to our studio where we fed the material to the E! studios in Hollywood.

Our studio was busy with green screen shoots in September for several clients including Home and Garden Television (HGTV), The Charen Group and Simpson Marketing. We also had a satellite media tour for Schwab Financial Services.

Corporate work stayed busy with us shooting an internal marketing video for AT&T and Fujitsu computers. The overnight shoot occurred at an AT&T retail store and was shot on XDCam HD. The 3-minute video was then edited on our Final Cut Pro edit system and incorporated green screen product shots captured in our studio.

We completed work for the Catholic Church of St. Ann after a year of documenting the remodeling of their Sanctuary.

August, 2008 News

Continuing medical education producer Humanus Clinical returned for another shoot in early August. The three-camera, live-switch program was shot in our studio with additional post production that included the creation of custom graphics for the one-hour program. The completed video was fed via satellite uplink from our studio to hospitals, universities and doctors offices around the country. An online version was also created.

US Senator Saxby Chambliss taped several stand-ups in our studio and CNBC had guests stop by for live shots.

Holder Construction, Janus Doors, the Centers for Disease Control and several other clients kept us busy with corporate productions.

Most of our production is now shot in High Definition, and August continued that trend. We worked with CeCe Winans on a project that included shooting on two Sony F-900 HDCams for two days.

July, 2008 News

Our studio had several different looks during July, including a green-screen shoot that placed three on-camera guests at a green desk that was keyed onto a virtual set.

FOX News and Bloomberg Television returned for live shots with guests speaking about economic conditions.

Computer storage provider Veristor hired us to produce a new marketing video which was shot in high definition.

Hollywood-based A. Smith & Co. Productions hired us to again shoot on the Panasonic HDX-900 for the program ‘American Gangster’.

We continued work with the Catholic Church of St. Ann to document their extensive expansion and remodeling work. We visit the church every few weeks to videotape the progress of the construction. Closer to completion, the hours of video will be condensed into a 4-5 minute highlight video with before and after images of the church.

Cameraman Keith Krystofiak traveled to the Mobile , AL area for a week of shooting for the World Wildlife Fund. The students in this camp were all affected in some way by Hurricane Katrina. The students will present their findings in Washington , DC before Members of Congress in early July – and we will be there to follow their progress!

Michael Forrester traveled to South Georgia for the Fernbank Museum of Natural History to continue the documentation of an archeological dig that is searching for the ruins of a Spanish Mission believed to be in the area. The ongoing effort has uncovered some important finds that help to better educate us in early Georgia history.

Humanus Clinical used our studio for a full day, three-camera, switched continuing educational program that discussed rheumatoid arthritis. The show received a final edit, insertion of graphics and other elements. The final program will be uplinked nationwide in July so hospitals and other facilities can view the program.

We had several clients use the studio for green screen shoots for both the web and television. We also completed nearly two dozen location shoots for our clients that included HDNet, Coca-Cola , US Poultry Association, Fitness Quest and Multi-Media Productions.

News set in our studioEarly December had BTK Media in our studio. We created a set that included a news desk, 42" LCD monitor and a patterned wall effect for the three doctors. January, 2007

Forrester Media's new Atlanta Broadcast CenterJanuary began on a big note for FMI. We took occupancy of our new office and studio (the Atlanta Broadcast Center) on January 15th and began outfitting the space. The studio was built specifically for television broadcasts, so we sound-proofed the 700-square foot studio, added 200 amps of electrical service to the existing 200 amps, put in a 4-ton HVAC system to serve the studio, lighting grid with Kino Flo and Arri fixtures, green screen and skyline backdrop, in addition to many other extras to make this the most desirable studio space in Atlanta.

HDNet
kept us busy in January with seven shoots for ‘Deadline’, their weekly offbeat news program.

Speaking of HD, we had the privilege of documenting the paintings and drawings of Morris Louis at Atlanta ’s High Museum on the Sony F-900 in 108024P. The HDCam was mounted on an Alien Revolution – an extreme Steadicam-type device that allows the camera to rotate on the end of the balanced arm. Operator Ramon Engle guided the rig through the galleries of the High.

Working for an architectural firm, we documented the Emory Crawford Long Hospital campus in Midtown Atlanta from several approaches. The client then incorporated our footage with CG created buildings to show how the proposed additions would fit into the exiting campus.
